This paper provides the most comprehensive design-oriented analysis of five foundational OLC models, including Adizes (1979). The authors examine how Adizes’s model prescribes structural configurations, from directive boards in early stages to decentralized structures at maturity, and argue that OLC should be reconceived as an evolutionary rather than linear deterministic process.
