This qualitative case study is the first to apply all ten Adizes lifecycle stages, from Courtship through Death, as the analytical lens for examining how venture capital financing decisions and investor expectations vary across each stage. The paper finds that VCs systematically under-invest in the Adolescence stage despite Adizes’s prescription that it is a critical intervention point.
