Problems Are A Manifestation Of Change

September 2, 2022

Change is inevitable. It started with the Big Bang, with it came the beginning of space and time. And what is time? Change. And we cannot stop time. Thus, we cannot stop change. Some political parties try. Some religions try. They cannot succeed. You can stop yourself, you can stop a country, you can stop a company from change, but the world continues to change. Even if you’re on the right road, if you don’t move, if you don’t change, a truck might run you over. Because the world continues to change.

Everything in this world is a system, and a system is composed of subsystems. The subsystems change at different speeds: marketing changes faster than production, production changes faster than accounting, accounting, you should live long enough. And Human Resources, changing peoples’ attitude, that’s another story!

Because the subsystems do not change at the same speed, the system creates gaps, disintegration. And disintegration is manifested in what we call “problems.”

All problems are caused by something falling apart. Companies that grow very, very fast, they also fall apart very fast. Eventually, something will happen, and they will collapse.

Why?

Take a building, for instance, a high rise. You build a foundation to support four floors, but then you go and build a fifth, and a sixth, and a seventh, and an eighth floor. What’s going to happen? It’s going to collapse.

So, how can the collapse be avoided? There is a solution. On an ongoing basis, you need to reintegrate.

As you are changing to integrate with the environment, with your market, look at the company and ask, “Is anything falling apart? How can I reintegrate this or that so that I don’t fall apart on the inside while I am developing my integration on the outside?”

A healthy organization is integrated externally and internally. And the role of management, of true, modern leadership to achieve ongoing sustainable success, is to keep the company healthy.
